Ramlal Chattopadhyay (1860-1934) – Eldest son of the Master’s second brother Rameshwar. Appointed priest at the Kali temple at Dakshineswar after the expulsion of Hridayram (June 1881), held the post till his last day. Could sing, one who sang the most songs to please the Master. Received the Master’s grace at Cossipore on 1.1.86. Though Ramlaldada enjoyed the respect of the Order, he did not live up to expectations. Neglected the Master after Hridayram’s departure from Dakshineswar. Did not treat the Holy Mother well after the Master’s demise and is said to have been instrumental in stopping the monthly allowance due to her from the temple estate. The house he built at Dakshineswar has “Jai Prabhu Ramakrishna” inscribed on it. The house was visited by Swami Saradananda, M., YoginMa, Golap-Ma and M.’s wife, all of whom entered the house with the Holy Mother leading them (Srima Darshan, 15.340). Left behind three sons and three daughters, of whom Harihar wrote a book, Sri Ramakrishnadeber Smritikatha, based on the reminiscences of his father.
