- Kali seems to be of dark complexion because She is far off. When you know Her, She does not appear dark.
- The forms of Kali and Shyama are three and a half cubits high because of distance. On account of distance, the sun seems small. If you go near, it will look big beyond your imagination.
- Yogamaya means the union of Purusha and Prakriti. Whatever you see is the union of Purusha and Prakriti. In the image of Shiva and Kali, Kali stands on Shiva; he lies like a corpse while Kali looks down at him.
- Fence it around with Kali’s name, and your crop will not be harmed? Take refuge in God and you’ll get everything. This fence of the Divine Mother with long flowing hair is very strong.
- If you reach the Mother of the Universe, you will get love and devotion as well as spiritual knowledge. In bhava samadhi, you see God with form; in Nirvikalpa Samadhi, you see Akhanda Sat-chit-ananda (Indivisible, Absolute Existence-Knowledge-Bliss).
- Kali’s devotees are free in this very life. They are full of unending joy.
- Call on the Divine Mother with a longing heart. The liquid of worldly desire dries up on seeing Her; your attachment to ‘lust and greed’ will fully disappear. It happens at the very moment you realize that He is your own Mother.
- Praying to God addressing Him, ‘Mother, Mother,’ this is very good. They say that one is attracted more by mother than by father. You can force your mother, but you can’t force your father.
- Brahman and Kali are one and the same. They are like fire and its burning power. If one thinks of fire, its burning power immediately comes to mind. When one accepts Kali, one has to accept Brahman.
- He is the Doer. I say, ‘Mother, I act as You make me act; I speak what You make me speak. I am an instrument, You are the Being who uses the instrument. I am the dwelling, You are the indweller; I am the carriage, You the driver.’
- I say, you have your own Mother. She is no artificial Mother, She is not even a godmother. Whom can you force, if not Her? She is your own Mother. Compel Her!
- I am an instrument, She is the Being who uses the instrument; I am the house and She the dweller; I am the chariot, while She is the charioteer; I move the way She drives me; I speak the way She makes me speak.
- Mother Kali’s womb contains the entire universe. How can you know Her greatness? And then it says, ‘Even the six schools of philosophy do not reveal Her.’ You cannot attain Her by scholarship.
- That Being is addressed as the Mother – isn’t the Mother a great object of love? If you are able to love the Lord, you will attain Him. Divine feeling, faith, love and devotion are needed!
- She is the All-Blissful Mother. She creates, preserves and dissolves in Her sport. There are numberless beings, but only one or two of them attain salvation – that alone makes Her happy. ‘She claps and laughs when She sees one or two kites out of millions breaking free of their strings.’ Likewise, some people are being entangled in the world and some are being liberated.
- Do ‘you’ really exist? It is She who has become everything. As long as one does not know Her, one goes on repeating, ‘I, I.’
- Mother, if you keep him [referring to M.] in the world, please reveal Yourself from time to time. Otherwise, how will he live? How will they be encouraged, Mother, if You don’t reveal Yourself every now and then? But after that, do what you like.
- The Divine Mother and the earthly mother. She who pervades everything, becoming the entire universe, is the Divine Mother. She from whom you are born is the earthly mother.
- He who is formless also has form. You must also accept God’s forms. When an aspirant meditates on the form of Kali, he has the vision of Kali. But later he finds that the form has merged into the Indivisible. He who is indivisible Existence-Knowledge-Bliss Absolute is also Kali.
- The Divine Mother Herself has become everything – the deity, myself, the worship vessels, the door sill, the marble floor. All is consciousness. It is to experience this that one calls upon Him, carries out spiritual practices – chanting His name and glories, and so on. It is for this that one practices devotion to God.
- Kali, She who sports with Kala, is the Primal Power. Kala and Kali, Brahman and Shakti, are not different.
- The Divine Mother reveals to me [Sri Ramakrishna] that She has become everything. Once when I was coming back from the Jhautala towards the Panchavati after easing myself, I saw a dog following me. I stopped at the Panchavati and said to myself, ‘Maybe the Mother is going to say something through it.’
- The Divine Mother has shown me [Sri Ramakrishna] that everything is maya. Only She is real and everything else is the manifestation of Her maya.
