Akshay (Ram, Ramakshay ?) – Son of Ramkumar Chattopadhyay, elder brother of Sri Ramakrishna. Short-lived youth (1849-69). Strict observer of ritualistic practices. Lost his mother at birth and father at the age of seven. Brought up by Sri Ramakrishna with loving care. In his teens priest at the temple of Sri Radhakanta at Dakshineswar. Cooked his own food after worshipping Shiva at Panchavati. Shared a room on the ground floor of the Kuthibari (Estate offices) beside the Ganga with Sri Ramakrishna and his mother, Chandramani Devi. Married to a girl from Kunchekol village in the district of Bankura (1869). Died the same year at Dakshineswar after severe attack of fever accompanied with delirium. Nothing known about his widow. Sri Ramakrishna the Great Master mentions the grief of the Master upon Akshay’s death.
