Someone asked Swami Turiyananda why there was so much evil in the world. He replied: “Tulasidas says, ‘To the good the world is full of good; but to the bad the world is full of evil.’ The world is neither good nor bad. What I call good, you perhaps call bad, and the reverse. Where is the standard? The standard is in our own attitude toward life. Each one has his own standard. And with increased experience and insight, the standard changes. The pity is that we still recognize evil. When we become perfectly good ourselves, the whole world will appear good. We see only the reflection of our own minds. See the Lord always in everything, and you will see no evil. A suspicious mind sees evil everywhere; a trusting mind sees only good.”
