- “Uddhava said to the gopis, ‘He whom you call Krishna dwells in all beings and the elements – He has become the world and its creatures.’ “So I ask: Is meditation possible only with eyes shut? Is it not possible with eyes open?”
- It is not essential to attain Nirvana. There is, in fact, the Eternal Krishna and there are His eternal devotees. Krishna is the embodiment of Consciousness, and His realm is Consciousness too.
- Radhika is the very embodiment of pure sattvic love, while Yogamaya contains all three qualities – sattva, rajas and tamas. Radhika has nothing but very pure sattva within.
- Sat-chit-ananda has Himself created Radha to taste divine bliss. Radha was created from Sat-chit-ananda Krishna. Sat-chit-ananda Krishna Himself is the ‘container’ and He Himself is the ‘contained’ in the form of Radha – in order to taste His own Bliss, or to enjoy Bliss by loving Sat-chit-ananda.
- God is under the control of His devotee. Duryodhana showed great love and respect for Sri Krishna and said, ‘Please stay here and have your meal.’ The Lord, however, went to Vidur’s cottage. He is the gracious, loving Lord of the devotees. He ate Vidur’s simple rice and vegetables as if they were ambrosia.
- The Seductress and the Love Radha. Advance further and there is the Eternal Radha. When you peel an onion, you find the outermost skin red. Then comes pink. Then white. There is nothing more to peel off. This is the real nature of the Eternal Radha – where reasoning ‘not this, not this’ ends. Radha and Krishna have two aspects: the Absolute and the Phenomenal – like the sun and its rays. The sun represents the Absolute and its rays signify the phenomenal world.
- In fear of her sister-in-law, Radha said to Krishna, ‘Please dwell in my heart.’ But later on, when she yearned for a glimpse of Krishna, a yearning like that of a kitten which continues scratching its paws, He did not come out of her heart.
- Sri Krishna said to Arjuna, ‘What do you mean, you will not fight? Even if you wish otherwise, you will not be able to desist from fighting this war. Your very nature will compel you to fight.’
- Krishna, Krishna, Krishna. Sat-chit-ananda. I can’t see Your form these days. Now I see You both within and without. You are the living beings, the universe, the twenty-four cosmic principles. You are everything. You are the mind, the intellect, everything.
- You are indivisible. Yet You pervade this entire universe of the moving and the unmoving. You are the container and also the contained. Krishna is life, Krishna is mind, Krishna is intellect, and Krishna is the Self. O Govinda, my life breath, my life.
- Shaktas also try to disparage Vaishnavas when they say, ‘Sri Krishna is the pilot of the river of the world; he alone can take one across.’ To this Shaktas reply, ‘Of course this is true. Will the supreme Mother, empress of the universe, row one across Herself? She has engaged this Krishna to do the job.’
- The gopis, though married, felt great love for Krishna. They were madly in love with him – a woman doesn’t feel so much love for her husband.
- Going mad at separation from Krishna, Yashoda went to see Radha, who was meditating. In ecstasy, she said to Yashoda, ‘I am that Primeval Power, the fundamental Prakriti. Ask me for a boon.’ Yashoda said, ‘What boon shall I ask? Just grant that I be able to serve Him and meditate on Him in body, mind, and speech. That my ears may hear of His name and glories, that my hands may serve Him and His devotees, and that my eyes may see His form and His devotees.’
- Krishna practiced a number of spiritual disciplines with the Radha Yantra. That yantra was the Brahmayoni from which universes arise. He would meditate on it and worship it. From it thousands of universes are created.
- Krishna said to Arjuna, ‘Brother, if you have even one occult power, you will not find Me.’ You may gain some power, such as witchcraft or healing, and they may do some good to people. What do you say? So I prayed to the Divine Mother to grant me pure love – I didn’t ask for occult powers.
- Sri Krishna was an incarnation of God. Playing as a human being, He acts like this. Even while he lifted the Govardhan hill (on his hand), he pretended to Nanda that he found it difficult to pick up a footstool.
- Do you worry so much? Do you know that Sri Krishna said to Arjuna, ‘If you have even one of the eight occult powers, you can be a little powerful, but you will not be able to attain Me.’ You can have power, strength, money and things like that through occult powers, but not God.
- Sri Krishna is Purusha [pure Consciousness] and Radha is Primal Energy, Shakti, its dynamic aspect. They represent different aspects of the same Reality. What is the significance of the dual image? That Purusha and Prakriti are one and the same – they are not separate. Purusha cannot live without Prakriti, and Prakriti cannot exist without Purusha. Talk of one and you have to recognize the other.
- In this dual image the gaze of Sri Krishna is on Radha, and that of Radha on Krishna. Srimati’s complexion is white, like lightening, and she wears blue clothes. She also wears a blue jewel. She has anklets on her feet and Sri Krishna also wears them. In other words, the union of Purusha and Prakriti conform both internally and externally.
- He who is the Indivisible Sat-chit-ananda is alone Sri Krishna. From a distance the water of the ocean looks blue, but when you are close to it you see that it has no colour. He is with attributes and He is also without attributes. The being who is the Eternal is the phenomenal as well.
- Why is Sri Krishna bent in three places [tribhanga]? Because of his intense love for Radha. That which is the Absolute is also Kali, the Primal Power which creates, preserves and dissolves. He who is Krishna is also Kali. The source is one. All the rest is a game, divine play.
