Nistarini’s devotion for the Master was phenomenal, and he knew that she was a part of the Divine Mother. Swami Mukteswarananda wrote in his reminiscences: “We heard that one day while waving incense to Nistarini, the Master went into samadhi. He later said: ‘One of her hands is endowed with the power of the goddess Chinnamasta [one of the ten forms of Divine Mother Durga]. If she blesses anyone with that hand, even the god of Death will not be able to touch that person.’ She never used that power on anyone in her family. She wanted to use it on the Holy Mother during her last days. She reached the gate of Udbodhan House, but the Holy Mother knew her intention, so she told the monks not to allow her to enter. Nistarini cried and returned home. A similar thing happened during Swami Brahmananda’s last days. Nistarini wanted to bow down to the swami and touch his head with that hand. But this time also she was not permitted to see the swami, because he was very ill. The authorities would not allow it. Disappointed, she cried and returned home.” (Source: They Lived with God)
