One day the Master began to teach Sharat about meditation and posture. Sharat later wrote:
Sitting in the lotus posture, placing the back of the right hand on the palm of the left hand and then raising both to the level of the chest, he said with his eyes closed, “This is the best posture for all kinds of meditation on God with forms.” Again seated in the same posture, he placed his right and left hands on his right and left knees respectively, and touched the tips of the thumb and the index finger of each hand while the other fingers remained straightened. Then fixing his gaze between the eyebrows, he said, “This is an excellent posture for meditation on the formless God.”
