Anyone can call himself/herself a leader but to be an exceptional leader, one has to take the responsibility of all his/her actions. If his followers do mistakes that means the leader needs to correct himself. A leader can’t teach about something that he himself does not follow. This can be further explained by Gandhi Ji’s sugar story:
𝘈 𝘸𝘰𝘮𝘢𝘯 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘩𝘦𝘳 𝘺𝘰𝘶𝘯𝘨 𝘴𝘰𝘯 𝘩𝘢𝘥 𝘤𝘰𝘮𝘦 𝘵𝘰 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘢𝘴𝘩𝘳𝘢𝘮 𝘵𝘰 𝘴𝘱𝘦𝘢𝘬 𝘵𝘰 𝘎𝘢𝘯𝘥𝘩𝘪 𝘑𝘪. 𝘚𝘩𝘦 𝘤𝘰𝘮𝘱𝘭𝘢𝘪𝘯𝘦𝘥 𝘢𝘣𝘰𝘶𝘵 𝘩𝘦𝘳 𝘤𝘩𝘪𝘭𝘥’𝘴 𝘢𝘥𝘥𝘪𝘤𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯 𝘵𝘰 𝘴𝘶𝘨𝘢𝘳. “𝘔𝘺 𝘴𝘰𝘯 𝘸𝘰𝘯’𝘵 𝘴𝘵𝘰𝘱 𝘦𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘴𝘶𝘨𝘢𝘳”, 𝘴𝘩𝘦 𝘵𝘰𝘭𝘥 𝘎𝘢𝘯𝘥𝘩𝘪 𝘑𝘪. “𝘗𝘭𝘦𝘢𝘴𝘦 𝘵𝘦𝘭𝘭 𝘩𝘪𝘮 𝘵𝘰 𝘴𝘵𝘰𝘱.” 𝘎𝘢𝘯𝘥𝘩𝘪 𝘑𝘪 𝘭𝘪𝘴𝘵𝘦𝘯𝘦𝘥 𝘵𝘰 𝘩𝘦𝘳 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘯 𝘢𝘴𝘬𝘦𝘥 𝘩𝘦𝘳 𝘵𝘰 𝘤𝘰𝘮𝘦 𝘣𝘢𝘤𝘬 𝘪𝘯 𝘵𝘸𝘰 𝘸𝘦𝘦𝘬𝘴.

Whatever practices a great person follows in private or public life, his followers will follow that. Hence, a leader before giving a piece of advice should always follow that by himself. The principals of the Bhagavad Gita are as applicable today as they were in ancient times. The Bhagavad Gita transcend time.
